Join Server 2008 Domain from XP, Win 7, Win 8, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Join a Domain / Connecting Client Machines to the Server

In a client-server setup, to connect client nodes to the server, we have to join the domain we’ve created earlier in Windows Server 2008 here. We will join the same domain we’ve created from different OSes like Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Ubuntu 12.04. Please note, you cannot join a domain from a Windows 7/8 Home Edition, so we must have Professional/Ultimate/Enterprise edition of these two OSes.
